In Fiscal Year 2017, the Defense Health Agency (DHA) spent $14.2 billion on contracted products and services. Roughly $940 million, or 6 percent, of DHA contract dollars in FY17 went to health information technology alone. Though the market for health IT has remained relatively stable since FY15 with $6.1 billion in spending government-wide per year, defense health IT grew by nearly half a billion dollars over the same time period. This trend is likely to continue as agencies work to comply with requirements in the MGT Act passed in late-2017.

In this session, John Tenaglia, Head of the Contracting Activity (HCA) at DHA, will discuss his priorities and how the changes from the recent National Defense Authorization Acts (NDAAs) are shaping the professional services and health IT market at DHA.
 
Prior to joining the Defense Health Agency (DHA) as the Director of Contracting and Head of the Contracting Activity, Mr. Tenaglia served as the Deputy Director for Contract Policy and International Contracting in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD) for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (AT&L), Defense Procurement and Acquisition Policy (DPAP). In that role, Mr. Tenaglia was responsible for developing and improving innovative procurement policies for the Department of Defense by advancing the most efficient means to acquire supplies and services for the nation’s warfighters.
