DESCRIPTION
PSC will host a Reverse Industry Day for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 10:00am – 12:00pm ET. This industry led event will include two sessions for the NIH acquisition workforce: “Attributes of a Successful Business Forecast” and “Dynamics of Industry Teaming Agreements.” PSC members are also welcome to attend.

AGENDA

I. Welcome and Opening Remarks (NIH - 10 minutes)

II. Session I: Attributes of a Successful Business Forecast (50 minutes)
This session will share industry perspectives on the importance of business forecasting to industry decisions on investment, teaming, company growth, staffing and solutions, and pursuit of opportunities. Speakers will walk through and explain the fifteen attributes of a successful business forecast and provide examples of the most critical information needed by industry. The objective is for the NIH acquisition community to understand ways to improve forecasts to attract investment, new entrants, quality vendors, and improve service and technology solutions.

IV. Session II: Dynamics of Industry Teaming Arrangements (50 minutes)
This session will share industry perspectives on the decision-making process, factors, timelines, and practical business implications of teaming decisions based on company size, acquisition strategy, evaluation methodology, and role as prime or sub.  Panelists will share perspectives on ways for NIH to promote successful teaming arrangements, support DEIA initiatives, and ensure that the evaluation methodology chosen does not result in unintended consequences. The objective is for the NIH acquisition community to understand how forecasting information, acquisition strategies, and scoring methodologies influence teaming decisions and contract outcomes. The panelists will highlight the how teaming arrangements affect competition, the quality of bids, pricing, ability to acquire innovation, partnerships with academia and HBCUs, and small business goals.
