Gov. Affairs Meeting: AI Discussion with Congressional Staff

Varun Krovi, Deputy Chief of Staff & Legislative Director for Rep. Brenda Lawrence (Dem, MI-14), will be the guest speaker at PSC’s March 1 Government Affairs Committee (GAC) meeting.

A key staffer for emerging tech issues, Krovi will join the GAC for a roundtable-style discussion of artificial intelligence (AI) policy issues and Rep. Lawrence’s work on the House Appropriations and House Oversight & Reform Committees. This week, Rep. Lawrence will join Rep. Ro Khanna in introducing a resolution calling for the ethical development of AI and, in 2018, she introduced legislation to direct the National Science and Technology Council’s AI committee to provide a strategic plan for the use of unclassified AI tools across government.

About the GAC
The Government Affairs Committee (GAC) meets the first Friday of every month and is often referred to as “the best information exchange in town.” Each meeting features a special government guest discussing, on a non-attribution basis, one or more critical legislative, regulatory, or other policy issues. The second half of each meeting is the information exchange, where up-to-date information and materials on relevant issues and recent policy developments are disseminated and discussed.
