Protecting the Nation’s Airspace at the Speed of Light

By PSC Staff | November 27, 2017

After the attacks of September 11th, 2001, the U.S. Air Force rapidly implemented a laser light system, known as the Enhanced Regional Situational Awareness (ERSA) system, to protect the nation’s airspace. After 10 years in the field, the lasers needed refurbishment. Thanks to advances in fiber technology since the ERSA system was implemented, Booz Allen discovered areas of improvement that can potentially shrink the telescopes’ footprint and expand their capabilities. The system, and the U.S. Air Force, will be able to do much more with less. Click here to learn more about PSC member company, Booz Allen Hamilton.
