Arlington, V.A. (March 20, 2018)— The Professional Services Council (PSC) applauded today’s introduction of the “Accelerated Payments for Small Businesses Act,” legislation that would permanently restore prompt payments to small business primes and small business subcontractors.
The bill, introduced by House Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and Workforce Chairman Steve Knight (R-CA) and Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), is a response to the Office of Management and Budget’s decision not to renew a key policy directive that helped ensure that small businesses who work as subcontractors with the federal government are paid in a timely manner for the goods and services they provide.
“This policy is a critical life line for small businesses who work in the federal market and its impacts are wide-spread," said Alan Chvotkin, PSC's Executive Vice President and Counsel. "PSC compliments the House Small Business Committee leaders—Chairman Steve Chabot and Ranking Member Nydia Velázquez—for prioritizing a legislative remedy, and we look forward to working with them to see the bill enacted. Codifying this policy on a permanent basis will provide the contractor community with payment predictability and help companies of all sizes assist government agencies in meeting mission needs.”
PSC, the voice of the government technology and professional services industry, sent a
letter to Chairman Knight and Rep. Espaillat
expressing support for the bill.
