Ryan P. McDermott is the Vice President for Defense and Intelligence for the Professional Services Council (PSC) where he manages the Defense and Intelligence Council as well as leads advocacy of legislative proposals that support contractors focused on both sectors.
Mr. McDermott most recently served in the Department of Defense as the Principal Director for Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy (MIBP) and previously as the Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management & Comptroller. Prior to his Pentagon service, Mr. McDermott served as a senior financial analyst at Booz Allen Hamilton and previously worked as an investment banker at Evercore Partners.
From 2000 to 2006, Mr. McDermott served as an officer in the 3rd Infantry Division and led an infantry platoon into combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. Among his awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Assault badge, Parachutist Badge and Ranger Tab.
Mr. McDermott is a graduate of the United States Military Academy. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business and a Master of Arts in Security Studies from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
