Values our Veteran Community

At Dewberry, we are dedicated to the veteran community and are proud to be a company that values and supports their service to our wonderful nation. It is a community that runs deep in our company culture, starting from our founder Mr. Sidney Dewberry himself, who served in WWII, to our current CEO Don Stone Jr., who served in the Army, along with countless other employees who have served or are serving now as citizen soldiers. We are proud to call them our own.

It is no secret that veterans have invaluable expertise and understanding of our federal clients. As they transition from uniformed service to the private sector, Dewberry has made it our mission to enhance this process by hiring veterans and offering them an opportunity to apply their skills in everyday work. We recognize and value their sacrifice, dedication, and patriotism that they have shown for their country. Dewberry partners regularly with Service-Disabled Veteran-owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs). In fact, two of our three Mentor Protégé firms are SDVOSBs.

Furthermore, Dewberry supports the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and actively participates in a wide range of events that impact veterans. Remarkably, several Dewberry employees have held prominent positions such as past and current presidents of SAME posts. We also post our job opportunities on veteran outreach job sites and attend Veteran-focused career fairs annually.

Veteran Employee Resource Group (ERG)

We take great pride in providing opportunities and resources that aid in the transition from military to civilian life. Our passion for veteran support led us to create a new Employee Resource Group (ERG) for all branches of the military. We are proud to announce that our Veteran ERG is partnering with The American Red Cross this year to host a Veterans Day event. The event will feature a panel of Dewberry veterans and a special keynote speaker, the American Red Cross Lieutenant Colonel, Gil Turner from the U.S. Army.

Supporting the Effort to End Veteran Homelessness

As a company, we also recognize the issue of veteran homelessness and its impact on those who have bravely served our country. This past August, Dewberry leadership spearheaded a project to gather 500 homeless veteran kits, which were then sent to various military bases to be distributed to those in need.
