Position Summary

PSC seeks an Associate, Research and Analysis to support PSC’s research, data analysis, and advocacy work. This role helps collect, analyze, interpret, and present federal contracting, budget, and policy information for PSC staff, member companies, government stakeholders, and other audiences.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to translate data into a clear and compelling story for the presentation, briefing, report, or decision it supports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Query, analyze, and interpret federal contracting data from sources including SAM.gov and commercial tools to support PSC research, advocacy, presentations, and decision-making.
  • Use Excel, SQL, or similar data tools to access, import, maintain, and analyze datasets.
  • Connect data findings to the purpose of the work product so the final presentation, briefing, or report tells a clear and accurate story for the intended audience.
  • Handle research assignments ranging from quick-turn data requests to complex multi-week projects, including federal workforce, budget, and procurement forecast analysis.
  • Support PSC surveys of government officials and assist with drafting reports, presentations, charts, talking points, and other research products.
  • Provide research, writing, and analytical support for PSC advocacy efforts and related projects.
  • Work with PSC staff to gather information, respond to internal data requests, and support member-facing materials.
  • Maintain organized research files, datasets, source materials, and documentation.
  • Support meetings, briefings, presentations, and events where research or data support is needed.
  • Recommend and support process improvements that make PSC research and reporting more efficient, consistent, and useful.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, data analytics, economics, or a related field.
  • Up to three years of relevant work experience. Entry-level candidates with strong internship experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including the ability to organize, analyze, and visualize data.
  • Ability to interpret data in context and explain how the analysis supports the message, purpose, and audience of a work product.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information to non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple research assignments and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL, R, or similar data tools.
Location / Work Arrangement Hybrid position based in Arlington, Virginia, with 3 days per week in the office.
Employment Type Full-Time
Compensation $60,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience
