PSC Statement on Senate Vote to Extend 3610 Authority

Arlington, Va. (March 6, 2021) The Professional Services Council (PSC) welcomes the Senate vote today on an amendment extending Section 3610, a critical retention authority for key federal contractor personnel, through the end of this fiscal year. PSC’s President and CEO David Berteau issued the following statement:

“PSC applauds the Senate for this strong showing of bipartisan support for the contractor workforce. We thank Senators Warner and Rubio for their leadership in working to ensure that Section 3610 does not lapse. Federal agencies need flexibility to continue to use this authority when necessary.

With so much uncertainty around safe access to workplaces, now is not the time to let up on COVID-19 protections. If enacted, this extension will help the federal government continue to access the highly skilled, cleared and trusted contractor workforce needed to meet mission needs.

PSC urges speedy consideration by the House so that the legislation can be signed into law prior to its expiration.”
