NRECA Conference Center

Schedule 70 is the government’s largest acquisition vehicle for IT products and services, with over $15 billion in annual sales. In July 2016, General Services Administration (GSA) created a special item number (SIN) for health IT in direct response to an increase in the federal government’s health IT spending. The government spent over $5 billion on health IT in 2017 and future spending is projected to grow.

In this session, Marcelo Olascoaga, Director of Customer Engagement & Solutions Development Division, GSA, will discuss the Health IT Special Item Number within IT Schedule 70 and what IT Schedule 70 means for the professional services health IT market.

Marcelo Olascoaga is the Director of Customer Engagement and Solutions Development Division (CESDD) for the Office of Information Technology Category (ITC) in GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service (FAS). While his main role is to lead the CESDD in developing solutions for government agencies, he also oversees the Health IT Special Item Number within IT Schedule 70. Before joining GSA, he was a CIO for an agency within the Department of Agriculture. Previously, Mr. Olascoaga worked in a start-up government agency under the Department of the Treasury, where he was responsible for Enterprise Architecture, Capital Planning and Investment Control, and IT Strategic Planning.
