Improving Education in DROC

By Don Seufert, Senior Vice President, International Development Services, Mott MacDonald Group

In the last five years, Cambridge Education, a member of the Mott MacDonald Group, has worked with hundreds of thousands of schools and supported the professional development of millions of teachers around the world. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, through the USAID-funded Access, Lecture, Redeabilite et Retention (ACCELERE!), as subcontractors to Chemonics International, we are improving governance and stakeholder accountability for early grade reading across 25 sub-provinces.

We are working with the DROC government to develop and implement policies, strengthen school leadership and management, and increase community and civil society oversight and accountability at the local and sub-provincial level. Through this work, we have worked with more than a thousand schools to improve their planning and accountability for early grade reading and build national ownership of policies to support fundamental learning for all children in DRC.
