Northern Virginia Chamber, PSC Announce 2017 Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards™ Winners

Nov. 1, 2017

Tysons, Va. – The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce (Northern Virginia Chamber) and Professional Services Council (PSC) are pleased to announce the winners of the 15th Annual Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards™, the premier awards program honoring the leadership, innovation and commitment to excellence of the individuals and businesses in the region's government contracting sector.

“For the past 15 years, the Chamber has been honored to partner with PSC to present these prestigious awards,” said Northern Virginia Chamber President and CEO Jim Corcoran. “We are proud to recognize such outstanding companies and executives as they are emblematic of the best of the private sector.  We applaud each of the winners for their contributions to the government contracting sector and commitment to employees and our region.”

In addition, as announced in September, Dr. Ernst Volgenau, founder and former CEO of SRA International, was inducted into the Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards™ Hall of Fame for his extraordinary contributions to the industry, and Greg Giddens, Executive Director of the Office of Acquisition, Logistics and Construction at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, was recognized as the 2017 Public Sector Partner of the Year. The 2017 Charity Partner is Our Military Kids, which supports school-aged military children through extracurricular activities while a parent is deployed overseas or recovering from combat-related injuries. On the night of the awards show, funds were raised for Our Military Kids through direct donations from the event attendees.

“The Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards™ demonstrate the value that contractors provide every day to the government and to our citizens, and PSC is privileged to have the opportunity to honor so many companies that are making a positive difference to America,” said PSC President and CEO David J. Berteau. “We extend hearty congratulations to all of this year’s winners. Both Mr. Giddens and Dr. Volgenau are excellent examples of the great work done both inside and outside of government.”

Four Contractor of the Year awards and three Executive of the Year awards were presented. The 2017 Program of the Year was chosen from a large number of successful programs among the finalists from all four Contractor of the Year categories. The winner was recommended by the judges through a combination of mission achievement, financial success and customer recognition.
